According to legends, The valley of Kashmir was once the sacred Satisar pool (the pool of the goddess Sati or Durga), drained by the great saint Kashyapa (the grandson of Lord Brahma). According to legends, Jammu was created in the 14th century BC by Raja Jamboolochan. The folklore tells us that during one of his hunting campaigns, the king saw a goat and a lion by the Tawi River. He was so fascinated that he named that place after his name-Jamboo that was later renamed as Jammu.
